Annette Ryan appointed Parliamentary Budget Officer

Ottawa (Ontario), April 22, 2026

The Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) welcomes its new Parliamentary Budget Officer, Annette Ryan, who was appointed Parliamentary Budget Officer on April 22, 2026.

The Office has now fully resumed its activities in accordance with its mandate under the Parliament of Canada Act.

“I am honoured to assume the role of Parliamentary Budget Officer and to lead an Office dedicated to providing Parliament with independent, credible and non-partisan analysis. In the coming days, I will work with the team to review priorities and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality analysis, in service of all parliamentarians, with the aim of improving the quality of parliamentary debate and promoting greater transparency and accountability in fiscal matters.”
