Annette Ryan

Parliamentary Budget Officer

Annette Ryan is the Parliamentary Budget Officer of Canada.

She previously held numerous senior public service roles with experience in economic analysis, fiscal policy, taxation, financial crime and public finance. Over the course of her career, she worked across several federal and provincial departments - leading major policy, regulatory, analytical, and operational functions that support evidence-based public finance and economic governance. She began her career doing empirical research on business performance and labour productivity at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London, UK.

Ms. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics (Honours) from Acadia University and a Master of Philosophy in Economics from Oxford University, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
